On December 6, 1985 the first meeting of the Clean Odessa Consortium was held, the agenda focused on a review of the "Odessa
Litterbusters" kick off program, including the announcement of the organization as well as its purpose. A robot named Buster the Litterbuster
was designed in 1986 by Mr. Les Jackson, a teacher at Permian High School, along with a song using the "Ghostbusters" theme with lyrics
re-written specifically for the "Litterbusters" campaign.
The initial founders of Keep Odessa Beautiful include: Lorraine Perryman, Grace King, Jim Flowers, Tom Pace, Larry Long, Bobby Tucker,
Al Dunn, Buzz Hurt,
Daisy Bell Hester, Richard Phillips, John McCollum, Susan Thorpe, Bob Derrington, Frank Deadrick,
Carolyn Tripp,
Renee Earls, and others; some of whom are still active in the KOB organization today.
